Organizations

The Kettlebell Sport community is growing!! Each of these organizations are dedicated to promoting Girevoy* Sport (GS). Traditional GS is a 10 minute set–one switch if a one arm event–can’t put the bell down–using certain weights. (8kg, 12kg, 16kg, 20kg, 24kg, 28kg, 32kg)  Some organizations offer versions with different set times or modified rules (any bell weight, unlimited hand switches, etc…)   All offer competitions and ranking tables to challenge the lifters to reach goals and Personal Records.  Train for an event near you–or in a city you’d like to visit.  It’s guaranteed that you will have fun, sweat, work hard and meet some amazingly cool & strong lifters at any competition.

*Girevoy means kettlebell in Russian.

BOLT/International Kettlebell Lifting Federation (IKLF)

This federation created the BOLT system which uses all the GS lifts (plus double half-snatch) with a twist in the rules. The scoring is based on raw work volume (#reps X kettlebell weight) plus base volume (total kettlebell weight X 40) .  BOLT allows any weight to be used, multiple switches in One Arm lifts and bells to be put down during the set.  Five minute sets are offered as well as 10 minute sets.  Lifters can participate in all 6 lifts to achieve “Ironman/Ironwoman” ranks.  BOLT has its own ranking tables.
